This afternoon the 30 students of the minor ‘Intelligent Environments’ presented the results of their research projects in poster/demo session. This year the quality was again higher than previous years. Innovative smart environments were shown in very different field, such as care, fitness, urban farming and public screens.

Theo Jansen shows his new Strandbeest
Last week, the Digital Life group visited the exhibition of Theo Jansen. http://electriciteitsfabriek.nl/generatorstrandbeest/
Virtually all beach animals are now exhibited in the Electriciteitsfabriek in The Hague. Ancient skeletons and other historical materials are also displayed. Theo gave an inspiring lecture about the origin of the animals and evolution. The picture shows some members of the digital life group involved in moving from one of the beasts.
Meeting between Fashion students and ICT students
February 14 was the joint kick off the minors Fashion Theories and Intelligent Environments at HvA. Intelligent Environments offers a program in the field of design, engineering and research. Fashion Theories offers a program in the field of Fashion & the Body, Theories of Fashion Culture and Identity and Marketing Theories. During the program, students investigated whether a connection exists between fashion and movement and whether the relationship between fashion and technology can be found.
Dutch Platform Man Machine Interaction visits HvA
Inaugural speech 23 november
Because I became professor in ‘Ambient Robotics’ I held my inaugural speech on ‘Living in a Robot’. The full speech is available as web lecture. In my speech I focussed on the societal developments, the technology, the impact on novel research methods like ‘living labs’ and their role for the educational programs.
